So, my friends, the time has come to say goodbye to my bargain blog. I had a lot of fun updating all of you on the many deals I came across this past year. However, I've decided to retire my blog to pursue a little dream I've had. I am in the process of getting licensed and set up and getting the word out about the preschool I intend to start in my home this fall. I'm really excited about this new adventure, but between being a mommy and working on this project, I need to say goodbye to my blog and focus on those things. I will probably leave this blog up at least for a little while so that if any of you use it to link to the other great blogs out there, you can continue to do so. At some point down the road I will probably delete it all together, but it'll be a while. I wish you all the best and thanks for the fun this past year! :) If you happen to be in the Co Spgs area and have a child or know of children in search of a preschool for next year, I'd love to chat with you about my new preschool! Tackle Me Tuesday Results

OK, so I tackled kind of a small project this week...because I had a lot of other things going on today, but I tackled it nonetheless. Here are the before, during and after shots of my cabinet that had been taken over by Christmas projects that I did with my kids over the holidays. How did your projects go??

The mess that became my cabinet, that I raced to hold shut when my toddler tried to open it for fear of everything tumbling out...

Everything dumped onto the floor to be sorted through...

The items that made the cut and got to stay. The rest went into the garbage, or into a project container for next Christmas...in a much more organized fashion than they were in this cabinet.

I promise to take on something more impressive next week!

The toy clearance at Target is now 75% off. Obviously I can't guarantee that this is the case at every single store, but I visited 2 stores here in Colorado Springs today (both on Academy) and they both had toys marked down to 75% off. I've heard on other blogs that it's happening in other areas, so HURRY, this stuff won't last long! I found a little play make up set for my daughter for $1.98, a floor puzzle for my son for $2, a jewelry making kit for $4 something, and a few other odds and ends.

Helping in Haiti!

Ok readers, I'm sure you've all heard the stories, watched the tragedies unfold, and hopefully you've considered how you can help those suffering in Haiti. My plan is to make an initial donation of $25 here: LDS Emergency Response The link to donate is at the bottom of the article.

Below is a list that CNN put together of organizations that are collecting money for the Haitian relief efforts:

Yes, this is a religious organization, however, they constantly provide humanitarian aid and disaster relief without any religious bias. Their recent humanitarian activities can be viewed by region HERE.

Starting Next Week....Tackle Me Tuesday

OK, so in an effort to force myself to be accountable, I am going to start a fun new weekly feature called "Tackle Me Tuesday". Simply put, I plan to tackle one big project around my house every Tuesday. I intend to take before and after pictures and report back to all of you about my progress. It would be extra fun and motivating if some of you would join me for the "Tackle Me Tuesday" challenge. If you're interested in doing so, leave a comment and let me know. Next Tuesday I'll do a post with my plans and give you a place to link up your plans, or leave a comment with your plans. We can all cheer each other on, and in a couple of months, who knows, maybe we'll be out of projects to do around the house! Ha, I'm not banking on that, but it'll be fun and productive anyway. Time to Come Clean About All the $$ I'm Bringing In!

Ha, I hope you laughed when you read the subject of this post. The reality is, I started this blog a year ago next month and I have made next to nothing on it, other than $5 Amazon gift cards for promoting Swagbucks. I'm ok with that, though, since I didn't start it with the intention of making money at all.

However, I want to ensure that I'm doing everything legally and in line with the new regulations that the FTC put in place for bloggers, effective December 1, 2009. Additionally, I'm hoping that 2010 will be the year when my blog does start earning a little bit of extra pocket cash for me. So, I want to let you know in advance which affiliates I work with. The recent Family Fun magazine deal that I advertised did get me a free 1 year subscription from them, but other than that, I have not been compensated in any way for any giveaways or anything. I'm hoping that I'll be able to start doing more reviews/giveaways in the future, and that in doing so, I'll be able to score some free products for my family, but we'll see. Old Navy Deals

Old Navy is continuing to mark things down after the holidays. I stopped in today (Powers/Barnes) just for the purpose of my blog (I didn't buy ANYTHING!). I did see these cute sleepers priced at $2.47 and $3.47 each (depending on if they have something wintery like snowflakes on them - if they do, they're $2.47). I didn't do a ton of looking around because I needed to go get my little guy from preschool, but it looked like there was lots of clearance around!

Christmas Clearance Updates

Today I hit 2 different Target stores here in the Springs. The north one on Powers, and the one at Academy and Platte. The north store still had lots of Christmas cards, stockings, and ornaments. The Academy/Platte store had a lot more stuff including tons of white Christmas lights, lots of wrapping paper, gift boxes, bows, gift tags, etc. It is all marked down to 90% off, so now's the time to get whatever you need! Also, I checked toy clearance at both stores and it was still at 30% off.

I also stopped in to the Hobby Lobby at Powers/Barnes and their Christmas stuff is 80% off and they still had a decent amount of stuff left - some wrapping paper, gift bags, lots of ornaments, etc. The only thing I bought were some ceramic nativity ornaments for my kids to paint next year. I got them for like 10 cents each.

I'm guessing that these stores have similar mark downs in other regions/states, please feel free to leave a comment and let us know.

Christmas Clearance

(I needed some extra plates, and I snagged these for $3.74 per box at Target - they don't have anything Christmas or holiday on them at all - just white plates with a little gold trim line around them!)

It's hard to believe that it's January 2nd already, not sure where 2009 went! I've checked out the Christmas clearance at a few stores and wanted to encourage all of you to do the same if there's anything you need. I'm curious, what things do you guys stock up on after Christmas? I try to get wrapping paper, bows, sometimes Christmas cards, stocking stuffers (especially if they don't have anything Christmas on them so that I can use them for Easter baskets!) and usually at least a few new decorations or ornaments for the coming year. Share what you like to hunt for in the after Christmas fun.

Target currently has all Christmas stuff marked down to at least 75% off in our area, so I'm guessing it's the same elsewhere. I went to the Target at Powers and Briargate on Thursday and they still had tons of great stuff! **By the way, last time I checked, toys were only clearanced to 30% off so far at Target - not cheap enough for me to really even stop and look, but they'll definitely be going lower very soon!

Michaels has most of their Christmas items marked down to 70% off now (I visited the Powers location), and I was able to snag some really cheap treat tins and stocking stuffers. They also had the little 6 or 8 pack Christmas cards that used to be in the dollar bins marked down to .40 each.

JoAnn has all of their Christmas stuff marked down at least 70% too. They have less stuff available because they started marking things down a good percentage before Christmas, but they still had some fun stuff. I found a couple of ornament kits to tuck away for the kids for next holiday season. I'd recommend checking out their dollar bins too - they had some cute Valentine card making kits for $1 that I got for my kids to make cards for their grandparents with.

Kohls has marked down their Christmas decorations to 75% off as well, although the Powers location that I visited was pretty much cleared out. Be sure to check your local store - Kohls carries Hallmark keepsake ornaments, which I love, and they are 75% off as well!

Disney Give a Day Get a Disney Day Program

Disney just started a program called "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" Basically, you volunteer for a day through an approved non profit program in your area, and in return, Disney provides you with a free one day pass to one of their theme parks. Your whole family can join in the fun, and those 6 and older that participate will qualify for 1 free ticket each. We visited Disneyland last year, but I checked out the opportunities available in our area, and there were 2 different ones that just require you to buy the supplies and make a blanket to donate - it can be a quilt, fleece, etc, and you can do it in your own home. Pretty cool way to get a free admission ticket to Disneyland or Disney World!

Today I was in the Peterson AFB commissary, and I came across a hot deal that I wanted to pass along. Remember the gift card that Safeway sent that I mentioned previously?? Well, I received it and I put it to great use on some things that we really needed that were available at great prices! I got a BIG box of Huggies diapers that were on sale for $18.99 last week. I used a $3/1 insert coupon plus a $1.50 e-coupon so that brought the price down to $14.49. I was also able to get 2 nice beef chuck round roasts during the sale last week for $9.14 (for both). This week I used the rest of the gift card to get 5 boxes of Wheat Thins and Ritz crackers from the buy 5, save $5 deal that is good through today. (New ads start tomorrow) I used 5 of the $1/1 coupons from the 11/8 SS insert, and after the $5 instant savings, I only paid .49 per box for the Ritz bits peanut butter crackers and Wheat Thins. Hurry, you still have time to get in on that deal before the day ends!

What do these 4 boxes of Snuggle fabric softener have in common?? They were all FREE plus overage during my trip to Wal-Mart today. They are priced at $1.87 each (40 ct boxes), and the $2/1 coupon from last Sunday's (12/6) Red Plum insert made them free plus a .13 moneymaker! I purchased several other things, so the extra .52 came in handy! If you didn't get the paper last Sunday, these coupons are available like crazy on Ebay. I'm not sure what the ones up for bid are going for, but I saw the option to buy 12 coupons for $3.99 with free shipping. $3.99 for 12 boxes of Snuggle softener sheets is not bad at all! And, when you consider the overage of $1.56 on 12 boxes, you're actually paying $2.43 for 12 boxes!

**Please keep in mind that Wal-Mart prices vary by region, although I will say that it's been my experience that our prices here in CO are often higher than those that I see other people posting, so I'm going to hope that yours are the same or better, but I make no guarantees! :)
