Albertsons Weekend Update

There is a full page Albertson's ad in today's Gazette. There aren't any new sale prices listed, however there are a $5 off your purchase of $50 or more and $10 off your purchase of $100 or more coupons. Keep in mind that it does state that these are after all in store and manufacturer coupons, so not sure how great of a deal they would be.

Also, the ad indicates that now through Tuesday, August 4th, they are quadrupling coupons up to and including .25, tripling coupons up to and including .33, and doubling coupons up to and including .50.

Just a reminder that if you are military - shop Albertsons tomorrow (Saturday) for a 10% military discount with a valid ID.

Sorry that you got more updates than you ever wanted about my children! I promise I'll keep the deals coming and keep our family fun to my other blog! :) Thanks for your patience during my momentary brain lapse...

I haven't done a giveaway in a while, so I decided it's time. Because Swagbucks is such an awesome program, and I've been winning $5 Amazon gift cards like crazy, I'm going to share 2 of them with one of you. It will come in the form of 2 $5 electronic codes, so I will e-mail it over right after the giveaway ends. Entries must be submitted by 11 pm CST on Saturday, August 1st, and I will choose the winner via random.org. Here are the ways to enter:

First, if you're not a follower of my blog, become a follower by clicking "join this site" in the left side bar. When you've done so, leave a comment letting me know. If you're already a follower, simply leave a comment letting me know. This entry must be done before you can do any of the following bonus entries.

For another entry, blog about this giveaway and link back to this post. Be sure to leave a comment letting me know you've done so.

For more entries, send an email to 5 of your friends letting them know either in general about my blog, or specifically about this giveaway. Be sure to copy me on the email (erviefamily(at)gmail(dot)com) and leave another comment once you've done so. (I will NOT be using their e-mails to send ANYTHING at all to them, so don't worry about that, just want to make sure the e-mail is sent) You can have an entry for every 5 friends you send this email to, but be sure to leave a comment for every 5 because the comments are how I draw the winner.

By the way, if you haven't yet signed up for Swagbucks, go HERE and do it so you can start winning your own Amazon.com gift cards, or many other prizes!

Deal of the Day- Commissary deal!

So today my husband and son went to get haircuts at Peterson AFB. I took the girls and hit the library and then the commissary. I wanted to get some more free razors (Schick Quattro razors that were on sale for $4, and there are $4 coupons out there for them). Anyway, no more razors. However, I came prepared with my Electrasol coupons from last week's inserts, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 20 tablet or gel pack boxes were priced at $2.69. Do you know what that means? Yep, you guessed it - .19 per box for fabulous dishwasher detergent!!

Deal of the Day

OK, I saw boxes of Kleenex at Target (the Powers & N. Carefree location) on clearance on a couple of end caps for $1.08 per box. Use the $1/3 Target coupon HERE and then add the .50/3 coupon HERE and get 3 boxes for $1.74, or .58 each. I know that my daughter's school supply list has 2 boxes on it, so this is a great back to school stock up price if you need them!

Do You Price Match?

I've had this question come up a few times. For any who might not know, Wal-Mart will price match any store's ad for an identical item. Rumor has it that Target is now offering the same option, however I didn't see it printed in our local ad here in Colorado this week. Does anybody else know if this area is participating in that offer? If so, I think I'd much rather price match at Target.

So, here's the long version of my answer to this question. Have I ever price matched? Yes. Do I do it often? No, and there are a few reasons. First, Wal-Mart does not double coupons, therefore the deals are often much sweeter at the actual store if they are King Soopers or Safeway deals. Second, Wal-Mart doesn't offer the CATALINAs that other stores offer during promotions. For example, this week at Albertsons if you buy 3 participating General Mills items, you get a CATALINA for a free gallon of milk on your next visit. Obviously you can go to Wal-Mart and price match the cereal, yogurt, fruit snacks, etc prices, however they're not going to give you a coupon for free milk. (By the way, we did a little family trip to Albertson's this evening because my hubby felt like getting out when he got home from work, and I did this promotion. Just so you know, I asked and was informed that you can do the deal as many times as you want, and for every 3 items, you get a coupon for a free gallon of milk. Be careful though because the milk coupons obviously expire. The ones I got tonight expire on 7/29, so plenty of time for us to use the 2 gallons of milk we scored. :)) OK, sorry for the off subject babble. On to the other reasons I don't price match much... Personally, I think it's kind of a pain. I'd really rather go to the stores I need to go to most weeks than to go to Wal-Mart and try to keep my stuff organized in a way that I can make sure I get all of the right prices at the end. Since most of my shopping trips happen with 3 little ones in tow, there is not a lot of time or patience for extreme organization. The last reason I have is that...let's be honest, Wal-Mart is not known for its customer service, and the reality is, I don't always trust that the poor cashier is going to be able to get it all straight. I'm not saying anything bad about the cashiers...I'm just saying that they're busy, it's a pain for them and for me, and my shopping trips are typically too chaotic for me to keep a close eye and make sure I'm getting the right deals all the time.

All that being said, I have price matched all of one time since I started this couponing adventure back in January. And, I have to say that it wasn't so bad. I only did it for one ad. I tend not to get to Albertsons much because it's further away from us than the other stores, and they were having some good produce deals one week. So, I had to go to Wal-Mart for something else anyway, and I went ahead and got the produce items, saved them for the end of my order, and just showed the ad. It worked out just fine and the cashier was very nice about it. So, I would be willing to do it again for some really good deals on a week that I just wasn't going to be able to make it to a particular store.

I'd love to hear from all of you about whether or not you price match, so please feel free to leave your comments!!

Coupon Insert Preview for 7/19

Go HERE for a preview of the expected coupons this weekend. It looks like there will only be one insert this week. My favorites are the Huggies coupons and the Spray 'n Wash because it's my absolute favorite stain remover. With 3 little ones, we go through a LOT of it! Keep in mind that coupons and coupon values tend to vary by region. And, just a note on that for our area here in Colorado Springs - a lot of times the Huggies coupons show up in the Post, but not in the Gazette. That's not to say that they won't be in the Gazette, but it's been my experience lately that if we get them, we get them in the Post.

Do you bring your own bags??

I've been trying to get into the habit of always bringing my own bags along when I go shopping. Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't. Here's a reminder about the stores that I know of that offer credit for providing your own bags. Keep in mind that these do not have to be the vinyl reusable type - they can be previously used paper sacks or plastic grocery bags that you have on hand - just as long as you're bringing them in. Below are the stores that I am aware of that offer a credit. Leave a comment if you know of others:

Safeway - .05 per bag
King Soopers - .05 per bag

Go HERE for a preview of this Sunday's coupons. It looks like the $2.50/1 Electrasol coupon is back! However, keep in mind that coupons and coupon values vary by region.

Deals of the Day

OK, so when you go to Wal-Mart to get your free Keebler Fudge Shoppe cookies, be sure to grab a $2 seedless watermelon from the huge boxes out front, and bring your $1/1 Hefty one zip coupons from the 5/17 RP insert. You can get the 17 ct gallon size or the 22 ct quart size Hefty one zip bags for $1, and with the coupon they are FREE!!

Free Slurpees Tomorrow (Saturday) at 7-11

In honor of the date - 7/11, 7-11 is offering free slurpees from 7 am to 11 am. I did stop in at a Colorado Springs location yesterday, and the employee told me that they are participating, and that if there's a store that's not, they should be in trouble. So it sounds like it should be every store, but it's always wise to call ahead. Also, he did let me in on a little secret - the slurpees they're giving away are very small, smaller than the smallest cup they offer. He said some people come in and get upset that they only get a little bit - I told him they should be grateful that it's free, but I wanted to pass the heads up along to all of you! Happy 7/11/09! :)

Deal of the Day - FREE Keebler Fudge Shoppe Cookies!

OK, I posted the other day a way to get Keebler Fudgeshoppe cookes for .50 per package. The deal just got sweeter, though. Go HERE to print a .55/1 coupon for any one pkg of Keebler cookies as well as a $1/1 coupon for any one package of Keebler Fudge Shoppe cookies. I'm assuming they're still on sale for $1 at Wal-Mart, which means FREE cookies! I went to the Wal-Mart at Powers and Palmer Park, and this wasn't an advertised deal that I'm aware of, so your mileage may vary!

Safeway Deals 7/8 to 7/14

Wow, the deals are REALLY lacking at Safeway this week. So much so that I'm really not even doing an ad review. There are just a couple highlights below. Enjoy the week off from all of the bargains - maybe we'll be back in the game next week. :)

Eggs (18 ct) - .99 with in ad coupon ($20 minimum purchase required) Honestly, I'd probably just hit King Soopers and get them for $1.29 without the $20 minimum purchase requirement

Kellogg's Cocoa Krispies - .99 (limit 1) use the $1/1 coupons from the 6/7 RP insert to get these FREE!
